Hanoi's Old Quarter, surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake, comprises 79 streets and is home to 121 temples, pagodas, and shrines, as well as more than 200 historic houses of significant cultural value.
Known as the heart of Hanoi's traditional trade streets, the area preserves the city's unique urban culture dating back to feudal and colonial times. Each street has historically specialized in a particular craft or trade, such as Hang Thiec, famous for its durable tin items, and Thuoc Bac, known for selling traditional Vietnamese medicine and health products.
Today, the area continues to serve as a living heritage site and is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.
