THE HANOI TIMES The Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 is taking place at Hanoi Book Street on April 18 to 20 to promote a culture of reading and reaffirm the space as a unique cultural destination in the heart of the capital.

Themed "Books Expand the World of Thinking," it is part of an effort to foster reading habits throughout the community, especially among students, youth, and families.

Nguyen Quoc Hoan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee and Head of the Hanoi Book Street Executive Board, was optimistic about the event's impact. "With the support of bookstores, schools, and organizers, the event contributes to celebrating the value of books while spreading the habit of reading among local people."

Visitors to  Hanoi Book Street during the three-day program will be introduced to a diverse range of books covering literature, history, religion, business, science, children's books, and foreign languages. In addition to traditional formats, publishers will showcase innovative forms such as e-books, audiobooks, talking books, film books, interactive books, and other technology-integrated publications that reflect a modern approach to reading culture.

The event also covers a community initiative called "The Ship of Knowledge" to encourage book donations to a public bookshelf that promotes shared learning and collective growth.

Meanwhile, the book exhibits will be accompanied by a host of engaging activities, including a drawing contest based on the message "Books Expand the World of Thinking," book presentations, author talks, public discussions, reading skills workshops, and guidance on how to effectively search for, access, and use book-related information.

A painting from the "Books Expand the World of Thinking" drawing contest is currently on display at a cultural event celebrating Vietnam Book Day in Hanoi.

With its inclusive program and cultural diversity, the event reinforces Hanoi Book Street's position as a hub of literature and creativity and a cherished part of the capital's cultural identity.

As readers of all ages gather in this beloved space, the event reaffirms the timeless truth that books inform, inspire, connect, and expand the horizons of thought.
