In 2017, a total of 130 schools met national school standard, reaching 162.5% against the plan assigned by the city.
Over the past time, the Department of Education and Training has positively advised the Municipal People’s Council and People’s Committee to direct districts, towns to allocate land funds for schools to meet requirements; consolidated classes and schools and removed degraded classrooms at all education levels; built and improved toilets which do not meet standards; planted more trees in the campus to create friendly, green, clean and beautiful environment.
Moreover, being well aware of the important role of building national schools, all schools have made more efforts to improve the quality of education and training, especially the quality of officials, staffs and teachers; made roadmaps and taken many solutions to meet national school standards.
However, the report also pointed out a number of shortcomings and weaknesses during the building work of national standard schools.
Many solutions to fulfill assigned targets
In 2018, Hanoi assigned the education and training sector to build 80 national standard schools (29 preschools, 22 primary ones, 22 secondary ones and 7 high ones) and recognize 189 others.
Since the beginning of the year, the sector has continued well maintaining the education and training system in the area; reviewed and adjusted the planning of school network in the city so as to meet demands for quality and quantity.
2018 is the third year of the five year plan (2016-2020), the sector has increased more efforts to fulfill and exceed all assigned the targets of about 70% of public preschools and general schools will meet national school standards by 2020.
In terms of building national standard schools, the Department of Education and Training suggested districts, towns give priority to mobilize resources to build the schools.
Meanwhile, the Municipal People’s Committee allocates funds to build high schools meeting national standards, especially in two suburban districts, Phu Xuyen and Ba Vi.
Maintaining and building national standard schools is considered to create emulation atmosphere among districts, towns and schools, contributing to improving the quality of the city’s education and training sector as well as affirming the leading position in national standard school construction throughout the country.
