Hanoi opens Tourism Cultural Craft Village Festival 2015

Hanoi`s Tourism Cultural Craft Village Festival 2015 kicked off at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace on October 7.

To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Information said at the opening ceremony that this year's festival attracted the participation of 22 municipal traditional craft villages and 15 craft villages of provinces and cities nationwide.
Besides, the event was attended by 15 restaurants and 23 tourism businesses.

Artisans from dozens of villages also participate an annual festival that celebrates cultural values of villages.
Hanoi's craft villages and traditional craft businesses exhibite in 150 booths at the festival have a chance to introduce and sell their traditional products, such as Son Dong Handicraft in Hoai Duc district, Van Phuc silk and Da Sy cutlery in Ha Dong district.
Participating at the festival, artisans from villages in 14 provinces and cities nationwide will showcase their skills in making ceramic and bamboo products, weaving, embroidery and traditional paintings, besides wood carving, bronze sculpture and paper making at the festival.
The festival arrange an fooding space with 60 booths introducing the unique culinary art of Hanoi and 14 localities across the country.
At the event, besides stalls of the traditional craft villages, the organizers arranged some booths for travel businesses to introduce their tourism promotion programmes.
Quality of the village tour is much higher than against in previous years, the number of tourists desiring to visit culture villages tends to increase, most of domestic tourists have seen Hanoi's preserving of  hundreds of traditional craft villages, Department of Culture and Information Truong Minh Tien said, adding that they are valuable tourist resources of the city and the country.
The festival will also enhance cooperation in tourism between travel companies in Hanoi and other localities.
Various programmes such as processions that praise handicraft villages' ancestors, folk games and the showcasing of culinary art of localities will be organised.
The festival runs through to October 11.
