Hanoi, Paris expand cooperation in health and environment

The high-level delegation of Hanoi city led by Chairman of the municipal People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung paid a working visit to France’s Paris capital from August 25-27.

The visit aims to exchange and promote cooperation in various fields between Hanoi and Paris capitals.

The Hanoi’s delegation visited the Necker Children's Hospital to study its health care model on August 25. It is one of the French largest hospitals specializing in pediatrics, which offers all medical specialties and surgery for children, as well as some health care services especially for adults. The delegation also had a working session with the EMS Emergency Center under the Necker Children's Hospital.
At the working session, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that the health sector is one of Hanoi’s key development areas. In the next 5 years, Hanoi city will invest in constructing new hospitals meeting with the European standards.

The Hanoi’s leader expressed his wish to promote cooperation in the health care with French hospitals and hoped to share experience with France’s advanced and modern health sector, thus contributing to help improving and enhancing the quality of health services of the Hanoi capital.
The two sides agreed to cooperate in supporting professional training for their healthcare staff, developing the system of family doctors, and care and remote diagnosis, building Hanoi’s emergency system with the French standards, and connecting system of hospitals and research centers between the two cities.
In the same day, the delegation visited and worked with AirParif company – the French largest enterprise in the field of environment.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung shared about the environmental challenges of Hanoi capital, especially air pollution and water resources.
The Chairman said Hanoi city and the French Embassy in Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement to support the development of an environmental monitoring station in Hanoi in May. Accordingly, from now to 2025, Hanoi will implement the restricted use of motorcycles to improve and enhance its air quality.
Hanoi expects to receive the France’s support in the installation and operation of this monitoring system, as well as human resource training, and technical assistance in the analysis and data processing, Chung added.
In the framework of the upcoming official visit of French President to Vietnam from September 5-7, Hanoi is expected to sign a service contract with AirParif company to establish an air quality monitoring system with the aims to seek solutions in improving air quality in the capital in the time ahead.
