Hanoi is not only becoming a focus of local and international media, the city and the summit are also a common topic of Hanoians these days.
Le Trung Kien from Trung Hoa commune, Cau Giay district told his view with Hanoitimes: “We follow up the news related to the US - North Korea summit all the time, because the two sides will proceed negotiations on the Korean Peninsula's nuclear weapons issue”, Kien said.
“Through this big event, I hope the two sides will reach agreements to reduce the tension surrounding the Korean peninsula,” said Kien.
Hoang Thu Dung from Thanh Nhan street, Hai Ba Trung district said that Hanoi is the right place for the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un because this year, Hanoi will celebrate the city’s 20th anniversary of being recognized as a City for Peace by the UNESCO.
“In recent years, Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general have been chosen to host important international events, proving that Vietnam is a safe destination acknowledged by the international community” said Dung.
Nguyen Huu Loc from Kham Thien street, Dong Da district believed through this summit, Vietnamese will be better known by the world as peaceful and hospitable people.
He hoped that both the US and North Korea would achieve substantial results. “This is not only the desire of the Vietnamese people but also the expectations of the people around the world,” Loc said.
