Hanoi encourages the use of new highly-efficient and power-saving technologies by piloting solar cell for rural lighting.
The Hanoi People's Committee has recently issued a plan on implementing the national program on power management in the city for the period of 2018-2020.
The plan will contribute to reducing peak load capacity of the national grid by 300 MW by 2020, 1,000 MW by 2025 and 2,000 MW by 2030 through the implementation of DSM (Demand Side Management) schemes.
So far, Hanoi has gradually expanded the customer network participating to DSM national program, encouraged and supported the people to invest in the solar system in the city. Besides, the city has coordinated with the program on energy saving and efficient use of smart grid development roadmap, as well as orientation of renewable energy sources in the city.
Furthermore, the city has applied solutions on communication and awareness raising such as developing and implementing comprehensive programs on dissemination and community education on the benefits of implementing DSM national program.
Hanoi also replaces mechanical meters with electronic meters, with a view to completing the installation of electronic meters and remote data collection system for all power customers by the end of 2019
The city continues to widespread deploy and promote the use of compact-LED lamps, encourage the use of new highly-efficient and electricity-saving air-conditioners and the electric meter tariff scheme.
