Hanoi’s Department of Public Security began bike patrol at 12 wards in urban districts in the city on a trial basis from August 12.
Police forces at 12 wards in 12 urban districts received seventy two Thong Nhat-branded bikes, which are specially made for the patrol, each ward gets six bicycles.
The bicycles are painted green, the same colour as the uniforms of the local police force.
The municipal police will review the efficiency of the model to see should it be expanded after a three-month pilot.
