The upcoming Vietnam–Germany Cultural and Vocational Festival in Hanoi will be a major highlight of the 50th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi is collaborating with the German Embassy in Vietnam to organize a large-scale cultural and vocational festival scheduled for September 2025 as part of activities for the celebrations.

The festival is expected to feature cultural showcases, such as cuisine, art, and music, as well as career orientation programs held across multiple provinces and cities in Vietnam, the news was unveiled at the meeting on June 2 between Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Tran Sy Thanh and German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth.
Ambassador Barth said that the festival would foster the bonds between the two countries and expand educational and training opportunities for young Vietnamese people. "It will be a meaningful occasion to deepen cultural understanding and promote vocational collaboration between Germany and Vietnam," she said.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh reaffirmed Hanoi's commitment to supporting the festival, ensuring all procedures and coordination with relevant agencies would proceed efficiently. He added that the city welcomes international cultural events that are accessible to the public and aligned with Hanoi’s development goals.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in vocational education, skilled labor exchange, and trade. The Hanoi leader expressed interest in increasing the local availability of officially distributed German goods, such as food products and mechanical tools, which Vietnamese consumers highly favor.
The German delegation also announced that a singer from the legendary pop band Modern Talking will perform in Hanoi later this year. This performance is part of a series of events in 2025 celebrating five decades of bilateral relations.
From high-level visits, bilateral cooperation agreements to cultural exchange activities, this year will be colorful to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Hesse has reached around EUR1 billion (US$1.05 billion) annually, accounting for one-tenth of total trade between Vietnam and Germany.
