Hanoi promotes information technology application in tourism

A website called “Hanoi Tourist e-Information” will be set up to help connecting travelers with tourism policy makers and tour-operators as well as receiving feedback from visitors to the city.

“Hanoi Tourist e-Information” is an initiative to foster the development of tourism in the city, which will be teamed up to put into operation by Department of Tourism and Department of Information and Communication in the upcoming time.

The municipal Department of Tourism and its Information and Communication peer signed on March 24 a coordinated program on improving the efficiency of information, dissemination and promotion of the capital city as well as boosting up the information technology (IT) application in tourism activities in Hanoi in the period 2021-2025.

The cooperation aims to improve the efficiency of information, dissemination and promotion of Hanoi’s tourism activities; drive up the application of modern technologies in the sector; and accelerate tourism digital transformation.

Accordingly, the website “Hanoi Tourist e-Information” will be set up to help connecting travelers, tourism policy makers and tour-operators as well as to receive feedback from visitors to Hanoi. The expansion of the free-WiFi service at tourist sites will also be implemented this year.

According to Ms. Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in order to well implement the government’s “twin goals” of fostering economic development while enforcing strict measures against Covid-19 pandemic, the municipal Department of Tourism has actively worked with relevant units to revive the capital tourism sector, including the Department of Information and Communication.

It has also connected with tour-operators, air carriers and railway business to build up tourism stimulus programs.

Hanoi tourism starts to show signs of recovery after those efforts, according to Huong Giang. After the reopening, Huong Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple, Duong Lam ancient village, among other Hanoi destinations have welcomed back a significant number of tourists, especially on weekends.

In addition, many new tourism products are introduced by local tour-operators. All things are ready for reopening for international visitors.
