Hanoi promotes tourism

Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi`s tourism industry has experienced a breakthrough, which has contributed significantly to the promotion of tourism to the international market.

This is confirmed by Deputy Director of Hanoi Center for Investment Promotion - Trade - Tourism (HPA) Bui Duy Quang when talking about the initial success of tourism promotion activities.

By the end of October, 2017, tourists to Hanoi estimated 19,812,027 visitors, up 10% over the same period last year, of which: international tourists to Hanoi estimated 3,990,188 visitors, increased by 26% over the same period last year (international visitors to stay with an estimated 2,850,134 visitors, up 24% year on year). Domestic tourists are estimated at 15,821,839 arrivals, up 7% over the same period. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 58,653 billion, up 16% over the same period last year.

Representatives of Fiditour Travel Company said that the HPA organized tourism promotion activities in international markets not only attracted international friends but also created opportunities for businesses to meet nearly 500 international tourists, signed 20 contracts to welcome nearly 2,000 international visitors to Hanoi in the final months of 2017 and Q1 of 2018.

Although the HPA has promoted tourism, the current difficulty is that the budget for this activity is too modest, only equal to 2.9% of Thailand, 1.5% of Singapore and 1.9% of Malaysia. To overcome this difficulty, many tourism companies said that funding for tourism promotion activities should not only use the budget but also socialization.

Business Director of Sunway Hotel Nguyen Bich Dung said that from 2013 until now, the tourism sector has been socializing Vietnam International Tourism Fair, thereby promoting international travelers to Hanoi. This shows that the socialization of tourism promotion funds not only support Hanoi tourism image but also create opportunities for tourism companies to expand the market.

In this regard, HPA Deputy Director Bui Duy Quang said that HPA and Hanoi Tourism Department actively cooperated with embassies and international organizations in Hanoi to organize the promotion and cooperation, explore the market, develop tourism, connect tour, route with international companies. "In 2018, HPA will mobilize additional social resources from tourism companies, Vietnam Airlines Corporation. At the same time, we would like to invite the provinces and cities to participate in the international tourism fair in Japan, France and Europe to expand and improve the quality and scale of the booth's operation,"said Bui Duy Quang.
