Hanoi proposed to limit personal vehicles for reducing congestion

Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that with increasing speed of vehicles nowsaday, if there is no solution now, within 4-5 years, traffic problems will be increasingly complex.

On December 28, speaking at the online Conference of Government to implement resolutions of the Parliament on the tasks of socio-economic development and State budget estimated in 2016, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung had put two proposals to the Government.

The Chairman said, before the current situation, average in the city of Hanoi with 18 -22 thousand motorcycles; 6-8 thousand newly registered cars.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that, at this rate (not including the 2018 tariff lines relating to automobile exemption), in 2020, Hanoi will have nearly 1 million cars. At the same time, Hanoi has 7 million motorcycles.

Therefore, the Hanoi government proposes that directed ministries, departments and central agencies to coordinate with Hanoi to limit personal transport to reduce traffic congestion.

At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee also recommended the government review and approval of drainage planning system and Red River dike to the local management and exploitation planned outside the dike.

"Suggest that the Government has specified to help Hanoi and the Red River provinces to construct works of social security for people outside the dike," Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung recommended.

Also speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee said that in Hanoi in 2015 aims to the direction of the Government, in close collaboration with the ministries, central agencies and local efforts to implement its tasks. GDP grew 9.24%, higher than in 2014 (8.8%), inflation under control, consumer price index rose less than 1%.

In recent years, Hanoi also hosted, jointly organized successful events, cultural activities 70 year anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day; in close collaboration with other ministries, departments to successfully defend major political events on the city.

Construction planning is speeding, basically zoning, urban infrastructure are boosting investment, many large infrastructure projects are put into use; new rural construction actively deployed, the end of 2015 with 52% of the new rural social standards, with one district recognized the new rural. Expected in 2016, 5 districts will be recognized as new countryside.

In 2016, Hanoi aims to continue to promote economic restructuring, macroeconomic stability, improve the investment environment, enhance competitiveness, promote production and business, striving to rate economic growth higher than in 2015, GRDP increased from 8.5 to 9%, revenue strives 169,420 billion, up 15.6% compared with 2015.

At the same time implementing social security, environmental protection, improvement of people's living conditions, promoting the development of the cultural, educational, health, as well the management of urban construction and building new rural development, defense and security is enhanced, maintaining social order and safety, improving the efficiency of foreign affairs, international integration, further administrative reform, implementation of plans for the election of National Assembly, People's Councils at all levels for the period of 2016 - 2020.

To accomplish the goal, Hanoi outlined seven key solutions group, and seriously implements the guidelines of the Government, the Prime Minister and the ministries and departments of the Central Government.
