Hanoi secures all ready options in stormy season: Chairman Chung
Chairman of the Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung presided over the monthly meeting of the municipal People`s Committee on July 31. His deputies Le Hong Son, Nguyen The Hung, and Ngo Van Quy also attended.
Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung highly valued the efforts of the local forces and people in actively responding floods and requested all options to get ready to overcome the stormy season.
Hanoi will seek capital to invest in infrastructure aimed at relocating households from the flood-prone area to higher places, Chung said.
The xhairman asked the relevant forces to stay alert during 24/7, in order to ensure absolute safety of people and property.
The local authority has to prepare all options to stabilize people’s life, especially limiting epidemics for people, cattle and poultry, Chung said.
To ensure people's long-term life, the chairman said that Hanoi will propose to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development build embankment to the Bui river by prestressed concrete like the way the Netherlands and Belgium has done, with a depth of 10m and elevation of over 8m for sustainable flood protection.
Chung's statement came after he had a field trip to Bui dyke in Thanh Binh commune, Chuong My district which is at high risk of overflow or breakdown due to rains, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung has instructed to supply 10,000 more sacks to raise 50cm for the dike.
Moreover, the chairman hastened the implementation of clean water supply projects, including water supply projects and socialization projects for clean water supply in rural areas, striving to complete water supply network to 100% of households.
Furthermore, Chung asked the Department of Construction to urge greenery companies to actively prune trees, limit trees to fall in rainy storms.
