Hanoi soon to top among cities nationwide in IT application

According to Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, with advantages in population data, infrastructure and the city`s application of information technology, Hanoi will soon reach the top position in the applications of information technology (IT) in the future.

Hanoi Department of Information and Communications said at the meeing to review its performances in 2015 last week, efforts to apply IT at State agencies in the 2012-2015 period have been stepped up. The department's management on infrastructure has been improved. The department is currently controlling and maintaining 54 underground urban infrastructures. 
In 2015, the department worked with relevant agencies to discard, reorder and bundle electrical wires and cables on 150 streets.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan praised the department's achievements in the recent years.
He proposed that in 2016, the city's information and communications sector should carry out better the tasks of information and propaganda.
Hanoi should make its best efforts to rank the first among Vietnamese cities in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Index. The index aims to assess readiness of cities and provinces nationwide for ICT application and development.
At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung asked that besides the department's proposals and recommendations with the city leaders in issuing a comprehensive system of management documents, the sector need effectively implement its development plans approved by the city.
The department should pay a special attention to the task of administrative reforms and the IT application in administrative modernisation, Chairman Chung noted.
Particularly, it is neccessary to develop concentrated and unified infrastructures for IT application share and online public services as scheduled, he stressed.
In the field of IT application, the Chairman said, with available advantages in population data, infrastructures and the city's application of information technology, Hanoi will soon reach the first position among Vietnamese cities in the IT application.
