Hanoi suggests all-day operation for fuel trucks

Fuel trucks may get permits to move in and out of the city all day and night for the next three months to meet the demand for fuel.

The Hanoi Department of Transport on November 10 suggested the city allow all fuel trucks to operate day and night for three months.

The move aims to ensure a sufficient fuel supply for people and businesses in Hanoi, especially when people have stood in long lines at gas stations to buy fuel.

At a meeting with the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Hanoi Police Department, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, and fuel businesses, the Department of Transport recommended the city permit all 114 fuel trucks of 11 businesses to move in and out of the city 24/24 in the next three months.

After the term ends, the companies may propose extending the license for the fuel trucks to continue operating. In case the term of vehicle safety and pollution accreditation is less than three months, the activation of the fuel truck will be the remaining time of the vehicle safety and pollution accreditation.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade must make sure all fuel trucks strictly follow traffic safety rules and be put under law enforcement's control.

The Hanoi Department of Transport had previously permitted fuel trucks to be operational all day except the rush hour, which lasts from 6-9am and 4.30-7.30pm, to meet the market demand for gasoline and fuel.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, many gas stations across the country have been closed or suspended, causing a shortage of fuel and gasoline in some cities and provinces.

Petrol prices soar

The ministries of Industry and Trade and Finance on November 11 raised retail petrol prices for the fourth time in a row.

The new prices were updated as of 3pm.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 petrol increased from VND838 per liter to VND22,711 per liter.

The price of RON 95-III rose from VND1,111 per liter to VND23,867per liter.

The price of fuel oil was raised from VND678 per liter to VND14,760 per liter.

The price of kerosene oil was up from VND964 per liter to VND24,747 per liter.

Only diesel saw a slight decline in the latest price adjustment. The price of diesel fell from VND87 per liter to VND24,983 per liter.

The two ministries also decided to extract 200 VND per liter and 300 VND per liter from petrol and mazut prices for the petrol price stabilization fund.
