KTĐT - With thousands of years of history, Hanoi has a unique culture with various historical relic sites, festivals and trade villages, which are helping the city become more attractive to both domestic and foreign tourists.
The number of visitors to the capital has increased significantly, however, the length of stay in Hanoi has been not very long. The reason may  be caused by the lack of Hanoi's typical tourist products.
Hanoi owns more than 5,000 monuments with many famous scenic sites as Temple of Literature (Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam), the One Pillar Pagoda, Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the old quarter of 36 streets. In the past years, the municipal tourism has mainly exploited the available potential.
According to Nguyen Hong Dai, Director of APT Travel Company, Hanoi's tourism products are very attractive, but its typical products have not been seen because of inconsistent promotion and communication for each product.
Do Mai Huong, Deputy Director of Sword Lake Tourism Company in Hanoi also shared need to develop more tourism products, especially focusing on specific tourism products to prolong the length of stay of visitors.

Hanoi Department of Tourism has been officially set up a month ago.
The municipal tourism sector is planning a number of activities to make breakthroughs and boost sustainable development focused on cultural tourism.
Besides eco-tourism, resorts and entertainment centres, cultural tourism is also defined as a core pillar in the city’s tourism master plan until 2020 with a vision to 2030.
The new Department of Tourism is also expected to help strengthen tourism management and promotion.
Some major projects will also be implemented to develop diverse tourism forms, including those to increase Hanoi’s tourism products from 2016-2020 with orientations to 2030, promote the Giong festival space in Gia Lam and Soc Son districts, and upgrade the Ba Vi-Suoi Hai area to a national tourism site by 2020.
Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department Do Dinh Hong stressed that the municipal tourism will try to develop travel tours around the West Lake and the Old  Quarter of 36 streets.
Hanoi tourism expects to have a new look and continue to be the most attractive destination of the country and the region in the coming time.
