Under the Letter, the Department asks People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns to take following actions:Increasing popularization of law; guiding residents of apartment buildings, commercial centers, markets, production and trade facilities how to use electricity safely and prevent accidents, fires and explosions.
Hanoi to ensure safety in power use

Directing relevant specialized agencies and sectors as well as local authorities in cooperation with electricity companies in localities to conduct inspection and check, ensure safe use of electricity, fire and explosion prevention and control in apartment buildings, commercial centers, production and trade establishments in the localities.
Requiring management boards of the apartment buildings, commercial centers and markets, investors of industrial clusters, production and trade establishments in localities to conduct self-check, check electrical supplies being used, handle any problem or potential risk of fire and explosion, and check the electrical supplies under their management according to legal regulations.
Applying severe punishments for violations or unsafe use of electricity; taking responsibilities before the Municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee if there is any unsafe use or supply of power under their management.
The Hanoi Electricity Corporation directs local electricity companies in the area in cooperation with local authorities to increase popularization, check the use of electricity, fire and explosion prevention and control in apartment buildings and commercial centers, markets, production and trade establishments in industrial clusters.
Customers are guided how to ensure safety when using electricity, prevent and control fire and explosion, and minimize the use of electrical appliances with high power consumption like air conditioner and heater in peak hours.
Furthermore, the agencies increase inspection of grid corridor, prevent and timely handle potential risks; periodically check and maintain grid equipment, and replace unsafe parts before summer of 2018; check power poles in villages which are carrying bunches of cables being prone to fire, remove or arrange them to prevent fire and explosion.
