The Hanoi Party Committee has recently issued Announcement No. 1164, stating conclusion of the Standing Board of the Municipal Party Committee on handling pollution and improving the environment.

Under the Announcement, the Standing Board of the Municipal Party Committee agreeed with Report No. 22-BC/BCS dated January 16, 2018 on handling pollution and improving the environment, inspection and punishment for the facilities that cause environmental pollution, and policy on moving 117 facilities causing pollution out of the urban area.
In an effort to handle the pollution, improve the environment and thoroughly handle the facilities causing environment, the Standing Board assigns the Official Section of Communist Party of the Hanoi People’s Committee to take following actions:Give instruction to review, classify and detect the facilities that cause environmental pollution in Hanoi, thus giving measures to punish them;
Give roadmap to handle the facilities that cause serious pollution, do not issue license on discharging waste into the environment, and suspend their operation if they do not meet environmental standards.
If the facilities cause pollution but they have cooperative attitude and join hands with the government to handle consequences, the government at all levels shall create conditions for them, and launch policies to support them according to the law. If the facilities and craft villages causing pollution are located scatteredly, the city will consider offering them more support, and encourage them to move to concentrated industrial clusters with wastewater treatment plant.
Furthermore, authorities make policies to encourage the facilities to move out of urban area and encourage the construction of wastewater treatment plant with modern technology, and submit them to the competent agencies to ask for approval.
