Hanoi to have cherry blossom more regularly

At the first press conference of Hanoi Party Committee held on February 15, Chairman of the municipal People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam has suggested to present to the city 200 cherry trees to celebrate a cherry blossom festival that is scheduled to take place in Hanoi in March 2016.

The festival, which is scheduled to be organised in the capital city on March 20-21, will exclusively feature the hues and shades of blooming cherry blossoms, Chairman Chung said.
According to the chairman, growers and horticulturalists will be dispatched by the Japanese experts to take care of the planting as well as ensuring that the flowers will bloom after one year.

Earlier, the Japanese study showed that the cherry tree in the northeastern of Japan is quite suitable for conditions of Hanoi's weather and soil.
Hailing this significant suggestion of the Japanese Ambassador, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai asked the municipal People's Committee and relevant departments to urgently choose locations for the planting to dignify the city’s beauty and to maximize its tourism potential.
