The department’s head, To Van Dong, said October 10 is one of the most important events in the city this year.
The highlight of the celebration will be a grand meeting and a reward ceremony for organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement called "Good people - good deeds" and those who are honored as "Hanoi’s outstanding citizens 2014", which will be held at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace.
On the evening of October 10, the High Command of the Capital will hold firework displays in 30 districts and towns in the city. According to Mr. Dong, the number of 30 is reasonable because "this is a big event of the country, not only Hanoi".
Dong said the celebrations of the city’s 60th liberation day will be held in a “very practical and economical way" because the main sources of funding for the event will come from the state budget.
Also on the evening of October 10, an art show titled "Hanoi - faith and hope" with the participation of famous singers will take place on the outdoor stage in front of the August Revolution Square (in front of the Hanoi Opera House) and a fashion show "Hanoi’s beauty" will be organized at the Temple of Literature (Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam).
Dong said that only ao dai will be shown in the “Hanoi’s beauty” fashion show since it is held inside the Temple of Literature.
Designer Nguyen Duc Hung, director of the fashion show, revealed that 15 collections of Vietnamese ao dai, totaling 250 designs, will be shown.
