The 2016 Vietnam-Korea Giant Lantern Festival-Hanoi will be one of the key activities to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea Korea in 2017.

The Giant Lantern Festival that has been held in many developed countries such as UK, the US, and Japan with international scale and the impressive record, has attracted millions of visitors annually.
The event will feature 40 giant lanterns (each 10-30 metres in height) that symbolize the three dimensions of Vietnamese and Korean culture - Peace, Love and Hope.
Besides, around 200 exhibition booths will offer visitors food, entertainment and shopping opportunities.
On the sidelines, K-pop music concerts, Taekwondo exhibitions, traditional musical instrument performances and cover dancing events and games will take place during the festival.
The lantern festival is an annual tradition in Seoul where for 70 days each year giant lanterns showcasing historical subjects go on exhibition throughout cities across the Republic of Korea.
Mr Dennis Ng, Deputy General Director of Gamuda Land Vietnam Co. Ltd., said that the 2016 Vietnam-Korea Giant Lantern Festival - Hanoi will also include volunteer activities, including the Run for children's hearts. It is expected to draw 15,000 participants, mobilise 2.5 billion VND to support heart surgery for children with congenital diseases.
According to the organisers, the 2016 Vietnam-Korea Giant Lantern Festival - Hanoi is expected to attract the participation of tens of thousands of visitors, creating a new, lively, practical cultural exchange activity to celebrate 25 years of friendly relations between the two countries.
