The annual contest for students under 13 years old aims to promote the interest of those from Vietnam and other countries in mathematics and science, creating an academic environment for students, encouraging renovation and development in researching and studying and creating cooperative networks in teaching-learning of mathematics and science among world educational organizations.

The contest includes two groups, of which Group A is held for international students and Group B is for Vietnamese students. Each invited country is allowed to register a maximum of 12 contestants, of them six will take the math test and the remaining will take the science test.

Around 1,000 domestic and international students are about to register for the contest.

The previous edition of this contest was held in China in 2018 with the attendance of over 400 students from 22 countries. Vietnam sent 23 students to the contest, twenty of them were from Hanoi and all of them garnered medals.
