Hanoi to invest over 1,200 billion VND for information technology development
Hanoi`s programme on development of information technology in the 2016-2020 period will be divided into two stages from 2016-2018 and 2019-2020.
Hanoi People's Council adopted a resolution on the municipal programme on development of information technology (IT) between 2016-2020 at the 14th session of the council on December 1.
Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son said after imlementing the programme "Applicating information technology in operations of local agencies in the 2012-2015 period", the application of IT has made a strong progress.
The city's application of IT has had positive impacts, contributing to change the method of operation and management, boost administrative reforms, and create favourable conditions for local organizations and individuals, he stated.
Deputy Chairman Son said at present the rate of written guidance documents of the city through electronic form reaches 100%, and 80% of meetings between the city with departments and districts is held online.
According to the National Steering Committee on Information Technology, Hanoi's available indicator of information technology applications was ranked the third in 2014 and 2015 from 10th place in 2012, and was placed the second in 2013 and 2014 by the Ministry of Information and Communication.
However, the Deputy Chairman said the municipal application of IT remains some limitations such as only small information and database systems of some fields have been implemented, and the shortage of online public services.
With the programme on development of information technology in the 2016-2020 period, Hanoi has set out the main targets including: Building complete technical infrastructures, information systems, specialized and core databases; Increasing maximumly the application of IT in the State agencies.
The programme will be implemented through two stages from 2016 to 2018 and from 2019 to 2020 with the cost worth 1,252 billion VND, of which 578 billion VND is invested from development capital and 674 billion VND from the business capital.
