The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sport held a press conference on March 1 to announce the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival 2017.
According to the organising board, the second Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at Ly Thai To Park, near Hoan Kiem Lake, the downtown of Hanoi from March 10 - 12.
The festival is as part of a Japanese cultural exchange in Hanoi capital. The event will kick off on March 10 at at Ly Thai To Park.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sport Truong Minh Tien said at the conference that the cherry trees are due to arrive at Hai Phong port on March 1 and transported to the Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi on March 2 for preservation, while the cherry branches will be flown to Hanoi before March 10 and kept at the Hanoi Children’s Palace.
During the festival, visitors can join a wide range of cultural activities.
Besides the display of cherry blossoms, numerous activities will take place at the cultural exchange, including traditional art performances by Vietnamese and Japanese artists.
Visitors will have a chance to enjoy the hues and shades of blooming cherry blossoms, said Deputy Director Tien.
The event is considered the most outstanding event of the year to introduce Japanese culture to local residents and visitors.
According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sport Truong Minh Tien, Hanoi plans to organise the exhibition earlier in 2018, in order to include Nhat Tan peach flowers in the event.
During this year's festival, 150 cherry trees from Japan will be put on show along the stage at the Ly Thai To Park.
A workshop will also be held during the event to promote tourism investment between Hanoi and Japan with the participation of many enterprises from both countries.
