Hanoi unveils 60 captivating tourism programs for 2025

The launch of the “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025 - Get on Hanoi 2025” program has inaugurated an exciting array of cultural and tourism events set to captivate visitors throughout this year.

The Hanoi Times -- The vibrant tourism program was unveiled on the evening of March 4, coinciding with the Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival and the ceremony celebrating the recognition of the Hai Ba Trung Temple, Pagoda, Communal House Complex in Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi, as a National Intangible Heritage.

Speaking at the event's opening ceremony, Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, highlighted the city's tourism vision for 2025 and outlined plans to develop Hanoi's tourism sector by celebrating its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

She noted: “In 2025, Hanoi will continue to transform into a city that seamlessly blends its rich cultural heritage with modernity, embodying the values of 'Cultured - Civilized - Modern'. It will uphold the titles awarded by UNESCO, including 'City of Peace' and 'Creative City.'"

The "Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025 - Get on Hanoi 2025" program aims to reinforce Hanoi's projection as a "Safe - Friendly - High Quality & Inviting" destination, welcoming both domestic and international tourists to experience its unparalleled charm.

Hanoi is renowned for its extraordinary wealth of cultural heritage. The city is home to 5,922 officially recognized relics, including the iconic Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, 21 special national relic clusters, and over 1,700 intangible cultural heritage items that are carefully preserved. This remarkable heritage forms the foundation for an enticing array of tourism offerings, set to captivate travelers from around the world.

As part of the “Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025” initiative, over 60 events, festivals, and promotional activities are scheduled throughout the year.

These include the much-awaited recognition of Kim Lan Pottery Craft as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage; the launch of the Kim Lan Tourist Destination in Hanoi’s rural district of Gia Lam; the Thay Pagoda Festival and “Culture, Tourism, and Trade Promotion Week” in Quoc Oai District; the Dong Anh Carnival Festival in Dong Anh District; Hanoi Tourism Festival 2025, the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025, the Hanoi Autumn Festival, the Food and Craft Village Tourism Festival, and the Hanoi Ao Dai Festival 2025 in downtown Hanoi, among others.

These vibrant cultural festivals and events showcase the city's heritage while highlighting its modern, creative spirit.

Hanoi aims to welcome over 30 million visitors this year, up 11% on-year, including more than seven million international visitors, with five million expected to stay overnight. The total tourism revenue is projected to exceed VND130 trillion (US$5.4 billion), up 17.5% from the previous year.

The sector's main goal for 2025 is not only to attract large numbers of visitors but also to focus on high-quality visitors with significant spending and longer stays.

"Tourism development plans in the capital will be closely aligned with Hanoi's general planning for 2021-2030, with a vision for 2050," Giang said.
