A leaders delegation of Hanoi People`s Committee led by Chairman of the municipal People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung started the four-day working visit to Victoria state, Australia on June 29.
Accompanied with the delegation was Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Luong Thanh Nghi.
The visit aims to promote the understanding between Hanoi and Victoria as well as the experience exchange in the construction of a modern city, thus strengthening Vietnam - Australia trade and cultural cooperation ties.
During the meeting on June 29 with Governor of Victoria state Daniel Andrews, former Trade Minister Andrew Robb, former State Premier Ted Bailieu, Minister of Commerce and small and medium enterprises Dalidakis Philip, Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his desires to further boost relations between Hanoi and Victoria state in general and Melbourne city in particular.
Hanoi city hopes to learn experience in the IT application and organization of international sports tournaments that are strengths of Melbourne, the most liveable city in the world, Chairman Chung stressed.
The Hanoi leader also highlighted the importance of trade, culture and communication, and education activities between Vietnam and Australia and hoped that the state's government will continue to further support for the Vietnamese community living in the locality.
Victoria state Governor Andrews expressed his pleasure to welcome Hanoi's delegation, and appreciated Vietnam - Australia cooperation and the significant contribution of the Vietnamese community in the state.
On the same day, Hanoi's leaders delegation visited and worked with Interactive, software and data technology company, the Australian largest telecom Group Telstra.
Interactive company is one of Australia's leading company for software and data services. Interactive CEO Christopher Ride introduced services, equipment, operation of data center management, software construction processes such as the management software for Toyota, the software for the Australian postal delivery system.
General Director Christopher Ride affirmed that Interactive is ready to exchange experience and support Hanoi city in building a modern and high-tech applied capital with synchronous data management system.
The Hanoi's delegation was also introduced the smart home, technology application in health care, 4G phones service and smart watch.
On June 30, the delegation of Hanoi city will continue to work with the government of Melbourne city.
