The number of visitors to Hanoi in January, 2019 is estimated at 2.4 million, a 10.4% increase from the same period last year, according to Hanoi Department of Tourism.
Of the total visitors, 633,903 are foreigners, a 16% increase against last year’s period, 1.7 million are domestic holidaymakers, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%.
Hanoi’s tourism revenue is estimated at VND8.8 trillion (US$382 million), a rise of 34.2% year on year.

In 2019, Hanoi expects to welcome 28.58 million holidaymakers, a 9.8% increase from 2018. Of the total visitors, 6.66 million will be foreigners, a 16% increase. In addition, Hanoi is expected to earn a revenue of VND84.78 trillion (US$ 3.64 billion) from travel services, an 11.8% increase from 2018.
In 2018, Hanoi welcomed 26 million tourists, a 9.3% increase against 2017. Of the total visitors, 5.74 million were foreigners, marking a rise of 16% in comparison to the previous year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
In addition, Hanoi is calculated to earn for more than VND75.8 trillion (US$3.26 billion) from tourism throughout the year, an increase of 11.7% compared to 2017.
Hanoi has been promoted in several rankings in 2018. The capital city has been ranked 12th among the world’s 25 best destinations in 2018 and nominated for the 2018 leading city destinations in the world by the 2018 World Travel Awards.
