According to Nguyen Van Chi, director of the Hanoi Agricultural Extension Sub-Department, three months after the competition, the organizing committee of the Craft Village Product Fair received 327 entries from 109 organizations and individuals, including 30 artisans (10 outstanding artisans) and 79 skilled workers from 25 districts and cities.
The 327 handicrafts registered for the competition included natural bamboo, rattan and leaves; lacquer, art wood and mosaic; ceramics and glass; weaving, sewing, embroidery and knitting; horn, shell, stone carving and metalwork.
Ta Van Tuong, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the purpose of the contest is to honor the products of Hanoi's craft villages, provide a platform for artisans and skilled workers to showcase new ideas, and create innovative, technically and aesthetically appealing works that meet the high demands of domestic and international markets.
"The event serves as a place for artisans, skilled workers, production units and enterprises to exchange experiences, learn from each other, establish trade links, expand market consumption, enhance the value of products, and contribute to preserving and developing traditional crafts," he stressed.
