Hanoi's tourism sector records an impressive growth

The report of the municipal People`s Committees showed that in the first 6 months of this year, the city saw a sustainable economic rise. In particular, the municipal tourism sector witnessed a positive result with the growth at 39.3% for international visitors.

The city's tourism industry has reached a stable increase in the recent years. Currently, Hanoi has welcomed foreign tourists from 192 countries and territories worldwide, including many visitors from markets with high affordability, such as Western Europe, Northeast Asia, Australia and North America.
The average number of tourists coming to Hanoi increases over 10% per year, and the figure of international visitors rises about 14% yearly.
In 2015, the city received 19.69 million tourists, of which the number of international visitors to Hanoi is 3.26 million arrivals, equivalent to the forecast indicators for 2020, accounting for 40% of foreign tourists to Vietnam.

In the first 6 months of this year, the number of international visitors staying in Hanoi reached over 1.5 million arrivals, up 39.3% over the same period last year, according to the report.
Domestic tourists arriving in Hanoi account for about 28% of the total visitors traveling across the country.
Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Do Dinh Hong said that around 80% of international visitors to Hanoi is for the purpose of recreation and tourism, while about 20% for business.
The report pointed out that total income from tourism has achieved a stable growth in the period 2011 - 2015 reaching about 15.5% year-on-year. In 2015, revenue from tourism gained nearly 55,000 billion VND. In June 2016 alone, its revenue was estimated at 4,530 billion VND, up 0.8% from the previous month and up 15.6% over the same period.
He noted that this impressive growth is thanks to the investment for the municipal tourism sector as well as the improvement of services  quality, and developing diversified tourism products.
The most important task to attract more visitors Hanoi is to create attractive and typical tourism products of the capital, and provide complete and impressive services for tourists, according to Hong.
Therefore, in the coming time, Hanoi will upgrade cultural heritage sites, build some stops for tourists in urban areas, organize many cultural performances in the Ancient Quarters, Hoan Kiem Lake, and exploit scenery space and water of West Lake with the aims to draw more travelers to discover Hanoi.
