The biggest Tet festival bonus is 624 million VND per person, from a foreign-invested firm in the northern province of Hai Duong and the lowest is 40,000 VND per worker, from a foreign-invested enterprise in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.
This information was heard by Head of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs’ Labour and Wage Department Tong Thi Minh at the press conference held on January 19.
According to the Labour and Wage Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, bonus for the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival is expected to reach the average of 5.53 million VND (250 USD) per worker (the rate of salary per month in 2016), rising 15.7% against last year.
These figures were obtained from 87% of companies that had reports on the scheduled Tet bonus for their employees.
According to the survey of more than 13,100 enterprises with 2.4 million workers in 63 cities and provinces nationwide, in Hanoi, the biggest bonus is 100 million VND and the lowest is 450,000 VND per person, both figures are also recorded in FDI enterprises.
In the southern metropolis HCM City, the highest bonus is valued at 600 million VND and a FDI firm offered the lowest 3.09 million VND per person.
About the New Year 2016 bonus, Head of Labour and Wage Department Tong Thi Minh said that about 72% of enterprises reported their bonus with an average of about 1.18 million VND per person, increasing by 1,6% compared with 2015.
The highest bonus is 2,028 billion VND per person from a FDI enterprise in HCM City and the lowest bonus level is 24,000 VND per person from a FDI firm in Thai Binh province.
In Hanoi, a FDI enterprise offered the highest bonus worth 30 million VND per person and the lowest bonus is 150,000 VND per person.
The ministry’s statistics pointed out that worker salaries in 2015 rose slightly compared to 2014, standing at 5.53 million VND per month, up nearly 8%. Salaries in wholly state-owned enterprises were estimated at 7.04 million VND while those in the private and FDI sectors reached 4.99 million VND and 5.47 million VND.
