Holidaymakers to enjoy free entrance to Hoi An on December 4

The project aims to help tourists learn about and enjoy the unique values of history and culture of Hoi An.

Large turnout of tourists is expected on December 4 in Hoi An town of Quang Nam province as they visit the vestiges without paying for entrance. Also they are expected to be treated to a show of cultural performances that day.

The news was given by Director of Hoi An city Center for Culture and Sports Vo Phung on November 28. Accordingly, the project is  part of activities to mark the 19th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An ancient town as a world heritage site.
“All visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy free entrance to the ancient town, enjoy the ancient cultural space of Hoi An and participate in activities at the relics, as well as visit Thanh Ha pottery village on December 4,” said  Vo Phung.
Accordingly, this is the annual project for visitors to Hoi An which aims to help tourists learn about and enjoy the unique values of history and culture of Hoi An. In addition, Hoi An will open weekend market in the park of Cam Chau ward for the first time on December 1-2. The market will sell farm produce, home utensils, souvenirs and food. Vendors are encouraged to sell organic products that meet VietGap or GlobalGap standards and use environmentally friendly packaging. Plastic bags and straws are banned.
Accordingly, the weekend market will be reopened on December 15 and 16 before taking place weekly from early February 2019.
In 2017, Hoi An received 3.2 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.66%, according to Quang Nam province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The figure comprises 1.78 million foreigners and 1.44 million domestic ones. As many as 2.38 million tourists visited Hoi An Ancient Town, up 28.16%, and 400,000 ones went to Cu Lao Cham Island.
