Hosting US – North Korea summit helps strengthen Hanoi's position: Singapore Amb.
Hanoi and Singapore together could have small but meaningful contributions to world peace, said Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Catherine Wong.
On the sidelines of the meeting with Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on February 26, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Catherine Wong expressed her trust that the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un will help strengthen the capital city's status in the world.
On this occasion, the ambassador congratulated Hanoi’s leaders as the city has been chosen to host the summit. "In recent days, I was impressed with the new look of Hanoi, when Vietnam’s capital has changed a lot to prepare for the second US – North Korea summit,” said Catherine Wong.
Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam expressed her trust in the success of the second US – North Korea in Hanoi. “Through this summit, the whole world is heading to Hanoi,” Catherine Wong told Hanoitimes on the sidelines of the meeting.
As a person who has lived in Hanoi for a while, Catherine Wong said she is very proud and happy to be here at the time of the second US – North Korea summit.

“My friends asked me how I felt when Hanoi has been chosen for the second US – North Korea summit, I answer that is no coincidence when Hanoi has been chosen as the location for the summit, that indicates the similarity between Hanoi and Sinapore,” Catherine Wong added.
According to the Singaporean ambassador, the second US – North Korea summit will become a important milestones to strengthen the position of Hanoi.
The first US – North Korea summit was held in Singapore on June 12, 2018.
