To limit damages caused by cigarette smoking and towards no-smoke public places, Canada`s HealthBridge organization in Vietnam in collaboration with Hanoi Health Department conducted "No-smoke restaurant" model in the city.
This new model has been implementing in many restaurants in the capital of Hanoi.
At present, a lot of restaurants in the city have carried well the provision of no-smoking.
A representative of vegetarian rice restaurant at the Tran Hung Dao street, Hoan Kiem district said the implementation of no-smoke restaurant model is not difficult, it is necessary to put up no-smoking signboards, cleverly reminding dinners.
Other restaurants in Hanoi also affirmed that the model of no-smoke restaurant is new, in line with the current increasing number of people who quit smoking.
Director of HealthBridge organisation Pham Thi Hoang Anh said the organisation's survey on the deployment of no-smoke restaurant in Hanoi in 2015 pointed out about 56% of smoking customers supporting the model, 80% of restaurant owners being in favor of the ban on smoking in restaurants.
According to a representative of Hue Restaurants, so far, the entire system of restaurants has been implementing non-smoking regulations.
In order to effectively deploy the model, Mr. Nguyen Van Long, representative of Ashima mushroom hotpot restaurants at Dien Bien Phu street, Ba Dinh district said for the successful implementation of no-smoke environment, firstly notice board on no-smoking is installed at restaurants, not have ashtrays and sell cigarettes and often remind customers to stop smoking.
Apart from aggressive deployment of restaurant owners, it is also necessary to coordinate between related offices in solving cases of violation.
