International visitors to Hanoi increase over 20%

According to a report of Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months of 2017, tourist arrivals reached an estimated 17,971,963, a year-on-year rise of 9%. Meanwhile, foreign tourists to Hanoi reached an estimated 3,536,143, a year-on-year rise of 23.5%.

Hanoi welcomed 18 million visitors
According to a report of Hanoi Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months, Hanoi tourism affirms to be a big economy sector with stable growth rate and expanding scale of operation. Meanwhile, tourism product focuses on quality and quantity, enterprises and companies are facilitated in business activities.
In the first 9 months of 2017, tourist arrivals reached an estimated 17,971,963, a year-on-year rise of 9%. Meanwhile, foreign tourists to Hanoi reached an estimated 3,536,143, a year-on-year rise of 23,5%; foreign tourists with stay reached an estimated 2,525,752, a year-on-year rise of 22%; domestic tourists reached an estimated 14,435,820 domestic passengers, a year-on-year rise of 7 percent. Estimated gross revenue is 52.9549 billion dongs, up 14% against the same period of last year. Meanwhile, the leading international markets for visitors to Hanoi are tourists from China, Korea, Japan, France, United States, Germany, and Australia.
 It is estimated that the average room occupancy in the first 9 months of 2017 is 59.71%, up 4.31% against the same period in 2016; average room rate is 1.06 million, average stay is 1.43 days.
Push forward with promotion and advertisement
In the last three months of 2017, Hanoi Department of Tourism will focus implementation of many tasks and solutions to reach the tourist arrivals of 23.61, a year-on-year rise of 8%. Meanwhile, Hanoi attempts to reach 4.3 million foreign tourists and 19.31 million domestic tourists, up 8.4% against the same period in 2016.
Specifically, Hanoi Department of Tourism will focus on coordination with the locals and travel agency to improve quality of key destinations including Thang Long Imperial Citadel; Co Do painting village (Ba Vi), community tourism in three communes of Ba Trai, Van Hoa, Ba Vi in Ba Vi district; tourism spot in Huong Son, My Duc.
In addition, focus on selection of one traditional product in each district and town to upgrade and exploit for tourism. Implement survey and tourism cooperation with Hoa Binh province and southwest provinces; make survey of tourism product in Phu Tho province; sign cooperation agreement with the key northern economic region including Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh.
In particular, Hanoi Department of Tourism will coordinate and organize international and domestic tourism promotion events. Meanwhile, focus on hosting the 16th annual meeting of the Council for the Promotion of Tourism in Asia (CPTA) in Hanoi from 20th to 25th October 2017; organizing a delegate to attend the general meeting of Tourism Promotion Organization for Asian Pacific Cities (TPO) in Korea in 2017; participating in world travel fair and roadshow in Japan, United States, France, United Kingdom; attending the corridor cooperation conference Hanoi – Van Ninh – Lao Cai – Quang Ninh – Hai Phong…  Continue implementation of cooperation program with CNN to promote Hanoi on CNN.
Along with that, Hanoi Department of Tourism will strengthen the connection with organizations, enterprises and associations, including tourism cooperation between Hanoi and Japan National Tourism Organization – office in Hanoi; Korea Tourism Organization in Vietnam (KTO); with some domestic and international airlines. Continue the pilot implementation of building brand, logos, direction signs and travel gift product of Hanoi in experimental places. Meanwhile, coordinate with VNPT Group to complete building smart tourism system in Hanoi for the period from 2017 to 2020; deploy building database management application for the management of Tourism Department; coordinate with Tripi -online transaction portal – to upgrade and maintain website of Hanoi Department of Tourism in 2017 with two new domain names of sodulich.hanoi.gov.vn and tourism.hanoi.gov.vn (replacing the old domain of hanoitourism.gov.vn).
