Jitendra Sharma, honorable President of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL) voiced support for Viet Nam’s efforts in defending its sovereignty while he was received by Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Mr. Jitendra Sharma stressed that East Sea is important not only for the regional countries but also for the world as well.
Deputy PM Phuc thanked the IADL’s support for Viet Nam after China illegally moved its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 escorted by over 100 ships to Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf last month.
He also appreciated the IADL’s statement regarding escalating violence in the East Sea that was released in Ha Noi on Tuesday morning.
IADL urged China to respect international law to cease and refrain from complicating the situation in the East Sea and escalating tension in the region for such doing would pose a threat to security and navigation safety in the East Sea.
Deputy PM Phuc called on IADL’s continued support for Viet Nam when the country takes the next steps in accordance with international law to protect its sovereignty.
He also affirmed that the Government of Viet Nam always creates favorable conditions for the Vietnamese Lawyers Association to fulfill its responsibilities as the member of the IADL, contributing to the protection of justice./.
