Japan Sakura Festival 2016 to be organised in Hanoi

According to Vietnam General Department of Tourism, the Japan Sakura Festival 2016 will be held at Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Hanoi on April 16-17.

The festival has been considered as one of the largest cultural exchange activities of Japan in Vietnam.
According to Chairman of Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Association Vu Khac Lien, to further boost the close friendship relationship between the two nations, more than 300 cherry tree branches will go on display this upcoming April 16-17 at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
“The subtle hues of the illuminated cherry blossoms at night is something local residents and travelers to Hanoi should not miss,” added Lien as the weather has been perfect and the branches in full bloom.
This year’s event is to celebrate the 10th year of the festival in Vietnam.

According to the organising board, about 300 large branches of cherry blossoms will be transported by air from Japan to Hanoi for exhibition.
The Japan Sakura Festival 2015 attracted nearly 150,000 visitors. This year's festival, coincided the upcoming Hung Kings Temple festival 2016, is expected to draw over 150,000 people.
The festival also features Japan’s cultural performances, such as Yosakoi dance, martial arts; and performance of the country’s girlgroup Parallel Dream.
The Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival was first held in Hanoi in 2007, providing an outstanding cultural activity in Vietnam to introduce Japan’s cultural beauty to visitors.
Managing director of the festival Suzuki Mari shared that the 10th festival asserted better diplomatic relations between the two countries in the past 40 years.
At this year's event, the Japanese government will bring to Vietnam more than 300 cherry tree branches, which are similar Yaezakura cherry, the most beautiful flowers in Japan, she added.
The festival will include an authentic tea ceremony, calligraphy, traditional dances, along with informational events discussing what it’s like for Vietnamese to study or work in Japan.
The Japanese typical cuisine such as Okonomiyaki dish, Yakisoba fried noodles will also be introduced during the festival. In particular, visitors have the opportunity to eat an expensive Wagyu beef from Japan with only around 30,000 VND per disk.
The Japan Sakura Festival 2016 is expected to be an exciting playground for young people.
