Japanese cuisines on Saigon’s Japanese street

Saigon is a miniature world with multinational cultures of both the West and the East. Besides Pham Ngu Lao – the street for Western visitors, it has a Japanese street – Le Thanh Ton.

Le Thanh Ton Street is not noisy and bustling like Pham Ngu Lao but quiet like the Japanese people. This street is the destination of Japanese and those who love Japanese culture and cuisine. It is home to dozens of Japanese restaurants. Coming to this road, Japanese may feel like they are at home.

There is a huge difference between the restaurants on the Western and the Japanese streets. While the restaurants in the Western street are very simple with plastic chairs and tables placed on the sidewalks, those on the Japanese street are “luxurious”.

On a road nearly 1km long there are nearly 20 Japanese restaurants, accounting for nearly half of the existing Japanese restaurants in Saigon at present.

Most of the restaurants use natural construction materials like wood, bamboo and grasses to create a sense of closeness with the environment and nature. The dominant colors in these shops are red and yellow, creating a very personal warmth of Japan in the heart of Saigon. Let's walk through this street to enjoy Japanese cuisines.

1. Sushi Bar

This is the first Japanese restaurant on the Japanese street. Sushi Bar impresses visitors with its brilliant red lanterns and the diversity of the Japanese culinary world.

Entering the first floor of the restaurant, right at the first step, guests are struck by the colorful sushi bar, where sushi pieces in various shapes move on a modern conveyor system.

Shibuya Wagon is considered the paradise of Japanese street food in Saigon with unique and appealing dessert cakes. The cuisine here is displayed with sophistication, like artworks. You can easily find any Japanese street dishes that you like here, from toast cakes to matcha lava cakes. If you are a fan of street food, do not miss the Shibuya Wagon Saigon.

As a restaurant that sells high-end Japanese mochi cakes, products here are 100% produced in Japan. Mochi is a type of cake that symbolizes good luck and prosperity, which are favored by Japanese people.

The restaurant offers two types of mochi – traditional mochi with 16 characteristic tastes and mochi donuts with 6 special flavors.

5. MOFs Japan Sweets and Coffee

MOFs attracts customers by its friendly space. Matcha and green tea related drinks in MOFs are very attractive and that’s why the restaurant is a favorite destination of Saigon youth.

The restaurant imports all ingredients from Hokkaido, Japan, so the quality of food here is always top-rated.

Dessert cakes and traditional cakes of Japan are also sold here.

But cost is the issue that customers should consider because quality has its price.
