The cooperation could become a new symbol in Vietnam – Japan relation, Hideaki said in a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on September 12.

According to Hideaki, Aichi is an economic and industrial hub of central Japan with population of 7.5 million and GDP of US$330 billion, ranking third in Japan.

The industrial sector in Aichi is famous for manufacturing automobile, Shinkansen bullet train and aerospace industry.

As of present, nearly 32,000 Vietnamese are living in Aichi, for which both Hue and Hideaki expressed delight at the growing relation between the two countries in terms of political, economic and people to people diplomatic aspects.

Hideaki expected more flights connecting Aichi to Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and other cities in Vietnam, saying Vietnamese airlines such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have given positive responses to the proposal.

Deputy PM Hue welcomed Hideaki’s proposals for greater cooperation and investments between Aichi province and Vietnam.

Hue said the government is pushing for the construction of Long Thanh International Airport project, in which, the highway project connecting Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh would be key to address traffic congestion and support economic development.

Hue requested major companies in Aichi to take part in this project in Vietnam.
