King of Cambodia pays official visit to Vietnam

The king's visit to Vietnam aims to strengthen political trust between the two neighboring nations.

King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia arrived in Hanoi today to begin a two-day visit to Vietnam. This is his fourth visit since ascending the throne, with previous visits in 2006, 2012, and 2018.

Vietnamese President Luong Cuong held a welcoming ceremony on November 28 with the attendance of senior officials from Vietnam and diplomats from ASEAN member states.

According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang, the king’s visit to Vietnam aims to boost political trust between the two neighboring countries.

During his visit, King Norodom Sihamoni will meet with Vietnam's top leaders to foster warm friendship and strengthen political trust between Cambodia and Vietnam.

The visit aims to promote cooperation in various fields and deepen the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship under the principle of "Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability."

The visit highlights the strong political trust and enduring partnership between the two countries, showcasing both nations’ dedication to enhancing bilateral ties.

During his stay, King Sihamoni participated in several activities celebrating Cambodia and Vietnam's historical and cultural connections. Remarkably, the king visited  Quan Su Pagoda in Hanoi, where he conducted traditional rituals and met with Buddhist leaders, monks, nuns, and followers, symbolizing the shared religious heritage of the two nations.

The rarity of such trips highlights the significance he places on fostering Cambodia-Vietnam relations.

His engagements with top Vietnamese leaders have played a crucial role in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. These interactions are expected to strengthen partnerships across various sectors, contributing to both countries' development and stability.

King Norodom Sihamoni’s recent state visit to Vietnam represents an important milestone in the ongoing efforts to deepen political trust and expand comprehensive cooperation, reinforcing a shared commitment to a prosperous and peaceful future.
