Largest IDC in Vietnam to be established

Hanoi Times – Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) just hammered cooperation with DOT VN, Co., Ltd. under DOT VN Inc.(USA) in building the biggest and most modern Internet Data Center (IDC) in Vietnam o­n January 23.

Hanoi Times – Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) just hammered cooperation with DOT VN, Co., Ltd. under DOT VN Inc.(USA) in building the biggest and most modern Internet Data Center (IDC) in Vietnam o­n January 23.

The IDC will be constructed in the precinct of QTSC, with the total area of 1,000 square meters. As scheduled, the first phase invested US$ 6-15 million will finish in September, 2008. The second phase of the project will start with the total investment of around US$ 40-50 million.

Two more IDCs are expected in Vietnam by 2010.

As projected, the IDC will be operated by the world’s leading experts appointed by DOT VN Inc.; also, there will be training programs to improve the human resources, especially the young o­nes for the center as well as the IT sector in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Chu Tien Dung, CEO of QTSC, the IDC will provide such services as renting host server, data storage, access and recovery at high security level, and other IT applications. In the short time to come, IDC will serve multinational groups, financial and banking corporations as well as enterprises who are working in Vietnam, and government’s agencies. Also, Mr. Dung stressed that this should be the largest internet data center in Vietnam.

Doctor Johnson Lee, CEO and Chief Architect of DOT VN Inc., said, “In order to build and operate such IDC, we are now welcoming experts as well as young IT engineers. In the short term, DOT VN Inc. is willing to create most favorable conditions for enthusiastic and talented young staff, and give them opportunities to have a training course in the US. And I do believe that these young specialists will help to improve the human resources in Vietnam as well, so as to work in our latter’s projects in Vietnam as well as other countries in region in the time to come.”
