This lychee is originated from a 100-year-old lychee tree in Dai Thanh commune, Quoc Oai district. Late-harvested lychee grows strongly, having high resistance to pests; its canopies shaped hemispherical, its leaves shaded light green, little polished, its blade is wide and flat; its buds colored lavender, every year this lychee has four times of growing buds.

Its pulp is thick, crispy, drain, easy to peel and its color is golden, smell nice, taste sweet. It reached 110 - 130kg fruit/ tree/ year on average yield. Labor income reached 250-300 million / ha on average. Particularly, late-harvested lychee of Dai Thanh provides two products as HTM-1 (distorted fruit) and HTM-2 (round fruit).
As its name, this lychee is harvested quite later, around a month, than others grown wide in the country (between 20/8 and 20/9) thus other lychee already finished theirs harvest, this late lychee starts to sell in market. As a result, its price is higher than wide-grown lychees, with a difference between VND 35,000 - 60,000/ kg from time to time.
At present, late-harvested lychee of Dai Thanh is grown mainly in suburban districts of Hanoi as Quoc Oai, Hoai Duc, Chuong My, My Duc, Dan Phuong, etc. with an area of over 700 ha. Remarkably, in the lychee fields of Dai Thanh commune, Quoc Oai district, there are 18 originated trees certified to provide seeds sold to the market by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
