At the first look, the shop seems to be shanty, with no signboard. There‘s just an old glass chest with all the fillings for making Banh mi inside such as: pate, pork, vegetables, mayonnaise, Vietnamese sauce… It’s priced less than $1 for each bread roll here, a really typical street-side food store in Vietnam.
Touring with Australian-Vietnamese celebrity chef Luke Nguyen, Mr Turnbull said the bread roll with pâté, pork, fresh herbs and pickled vegetables, was "superb". Waiting for the bread, Australia PM listened to Luke Nguyen revealing about Banh mi recipe. "This is a totally cosmopolitan dish- a French baguette and a Vietnamese filling," Mr Turnbull said, adding that 75 per cent of the bread roll was made with Australian wheat. "This is what free trade and open markets enables us to have - great Australian wheat in Vietnam and more opportunities for Australian farmers."
Mr Turnbull also met with two local women dining on beef noodle soup, pho, who posed for photographs with Mr Turnbull and Mr Nguyen.
