Media center ready to serve over 3,000 reporters covering Trump-Kim summit

The IMC gathers the state-of-the-art information equipment in Vietnam, enabling the reporters to run news during the summit in the most rapid and effective manner, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said.

The International Media Center (IMC) is ready to welcome over 3,000 foreign and Vietnamese reporters who are eager to cover the second US-DPRK summit, which will take place in Hanoi on February 27-28.

The center was completed in a record short time, less than two weeks, thanks to the round-the-clock construction at the 30,000-square-meter Cultural Friendship Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, said Le Thi Thu Hang, head of the Press and Information Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The IMC has been erected thanks to the extraordinary effort of related agencies in a record short period,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh said after touring the center on February 23.

The IMC gathers the state-of-the-art information equipment in Vietnam, enabling the reporters to run news during the summit in the most rapid and effective manner, Minh added.

After checking the center on Sunday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed the preparations of the related agencies. “The IMC has made the best conditions to the summit. Vietnam’s hospitality, responsibility and culture will be shown through the hosting of this summit.”

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on Saturday gave detailed and prompt instructions for the final touches of the IMC.

The center will open to reporters round-the-clock during five days starting February 25.

The International Broadcasting Center offers access to the host broadcaster/photographer, satellite transmission services, etc. The Press Common Working Area is equipped with common work desks, computers with networked printers; a5 Mbps Wi-Fi & LAN internet connection; wide-screen LCD screens for live feed monitoring; photocopiers.
