The event, one of the activities under the cooperation program to support innovative startups and promote market expansion for those in South Korea and Vietnam, has been held by the Jeonbuk Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (JBCCEI) and Saigon Innovation Hub (SIHUB) for many years.
This year's program aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea (1992-2022), contributing to increasing the value of bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries.
More than 650 products in the fields of cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and information technology will be displayed at the expo. Besides, the event will also feature more than 800 B2B matching sessions between South Korean and Vietnamese businesses, with the aim to reach memorandums of understanding and economic cooperation between the two sides.
The festival will also provide business information and opportunities in the South Korean market as well as a lot of knowledge on investment, trade promotion, and e-commerce, through Talkshow sessions with leading speakers in Vietnam and South Korea.
Local consumers will have the opportunity to test and experience new and high-quality products and technologies, as well as buy products at the expo.
Speaking at the press conference on August 23, the South Korean organizer’s representative said through the Mega Us Expo 2022, South Korean and Vietnamese companies will have more opportunities to exchange and set up successful businesses in the future.
According to data from CB Insights, there are 1,180 unicorn businesses worldwide, among this list, South Korea has 15 unicorns. The entry of South Korean startups such as Baemin Toss into the Vietnamese market is a positive signal in South Korean-Vietnamese trade.
Huynh Kim Tuoc, Director of the Saigon Innovation Hub, said that SIHUB and JBCCEI have signed cooperation agreements to promote trade and expand markets for Vietnamese-South Korean startups.
The two sides have established a center to promote products of innovative startups (Koreatoviet), supporting the promotion of more than 200 products of more than 120 projects from the two countries. Over the years, the two sides have organized more than 500 B2B matches for businesses of the two countries and reached cooperation agreements worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The cooperation between the partners has also opened up opportunities for universities and startups in the two countries to learn about each other’s markets and access investment funds.
