Speaking at the meeting, the PM stressed that according to the Nationl Assembly’s resolutions, the Government must implement the resolution on socio-economic development plan for next year as soon as possible in order to avoid a slowdown in production and business activities in the first quarter like it was for many years.
He requested all ministers to expeditiously start implementing the socio-economic development tasks for 2017 which were set up at the recent second session of the 14th National Assembly (NA).
PM Phuc asked ministries to soon devise effective measures for addressing some emerging socio-economic issues so that these problems won’t affect the execution of the development plan in the whole 2016 and in the first quarter next year.
Regarding the recent VND/USD exchange rate fluctuation, the Government leader said it needs to remain a close watch so as to timely deal with sudden changes.
The PM instructed ministries to thoroughly solve bad and public debt, poor-performing banks, and loss-making projects.
They also must make precise forecast and assessment of international situation that impacts the country’s development, he added.
PM Phuc also required ministers to hold to the promises they made while fielding NA deputies’ questions at the NA’s second session.
He noted that as there are only two months left before the Lunar New Year, the Cabinet members should discuss preparations for Vietnam’s biggest festival for people across the country, especially those in remote and disaster-hit areas.
During the meeting, the Government members mulled over a draft law on measurement and map, a draft plan on special economic zones, and a draft resolution on the implementation of some benefits for professional soldiers, and defence workers and public servants.
The Cabinet members also listened to a report on the signing of a trade promotion and facilitation in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area.
