Ministry of Public Security asked to further strengthen cyber security
Vietnam ranks 25th out of 194 countries and territories in the world and seventh in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of cyber security and safety level.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Ministry of Public Security to further strengthen cyber-security while chairing the first meeting of the National Steering Committee on Cyber Security and Safety in Hanoi on April 7.
PM Chinh, who heads the committee, stressed that cyber safety and security risks are growing and becoming unpredictable, which is affecting all aspects of life, society, and security of all countries, including Vietnam.

The Government leader requested members of the committee, especially the Ministry of Public Security, the body’s standing agency, and relevant ministries and agencies to improve their forecasts so as to make timely adjustments to relevant solutions and tasks.
He highly valued the efforts of the committee and relevant forces in fulfilling assigned tasks, contributing to ensuring safety for Vietnam’s big events in recent years and healthy cyberspace.
Chinh also called for strengthening State management on cyber security and safety, enhancing the entire political system and people's awareness about protecting cyber security and safety, and mobilizing resources for the task.
The PM noted that Vietnam ranks 25th out of 194 countries and territories in the world and seventh in the Asia-Pacific region in terms of cyber security and safety level.
Stating that cyber safety and security will face more threats in the time ahead, especially amid the changing global political situation and the strong digital transformation process in many countries, Chinh stressed the need to flexibly adapt to new developments and protect cyber safety and security in a timely, efficient manner, meeting the demands for digital transformation.
The PM also highlighted the importance of reviewing and building institutions regarding cyber safety and security towards deeper engagement in major global trends and realization of international commitments in line with Vietnam’s laws and situation.
Cyber safety and security is a global issue that needs a global approach, and as the issue affects all people, the approach should also take into consideration the interest of all people, the PM stated.
At the meeting, participants reviewed the cyber security and safety situation and gave opinions on the orientations of work in the field for 2022. A number of strategic matters regarding national cyber security and safety were also discussed.
