Vietnam should have more policies to attract talented Vietnamese expats to return home to contribute to the country’s development, heard a roundtable between Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha and experts in Hanoi on August 8.
Nha said attracting talented overseas Vietnamese to serve in the education and training cause will help solve challenges the country faces when it integrates deeper into the international community.
The work will focus on two main groups: experts, scientists and individuals who have academic prestige in the world; and those who graduated with masters or doctorate degrees abroad, he said. adding that to make the policy successful, it is important to create a good working environment for those returning.
Earlier, the Prime Minister entrusted the ministry to coordinate with relevant bodies to propose mechanisms, policies and measures to effectively employ and attract overseas Vietnamese students right after their graduation.
The PM also underlined that the ministry should attach special importance to detecting, training and employing talented people, helping to bolster the country’s international integration.
Among experts attending the event were Director of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) Professor Ngo Bao Chau, Rectors of the Hanoi Technology University of Science and Technology Hoang Minh Son; and Editor-in-chief of Global Learning and Global Citizenship Education under the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Nguyen Anh Tuan.
