National Assembly election day slated for May 22

The National Assembly Standing Committee has declared Sunday May 22 as election day for deputies to the NA (14th tenure), and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure.

The Committee’s Resolution on election day was announced during a ceremony in Hanoi on January 15, under which, the National Election Council, the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, departments and agencies will be responsible for holding the election in a democratic, thrifty manner in line with the law.
Addressing the event, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung asked for utmost efforts to make the election day a political event of significance to the country.
In the afternoon on January 15, the NA Standing Committee continued the 44th session, discussing the draft of the amended laws on export and import tariffs, and the draft laws on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Laws on Value-Added Tax, Special Consumption Tax, and Tax Management.
