The Party Chief Nguyen Phu Trong said that Congress is very successful.
The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) closes this morning [February 1], one day earlier than scheduled.
After the closing ceremony that marked the participation of representatives of foreign missions and organizations, the CPV’s Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a press conference, saying that the congress is “very successful”.
At the congress, the delegates passed the Resolution for the 13th Congress that sets targets for the socio-economic development in the next five years.
During the congress, the Politburo, the country’s highest body, was elected with 18 members, including 10 new faces; the CPV Central Committee having 200 members, including 20 alternates; the Central Committee Secretariat with five members; and the Central Disciplinary Control Committee of 19 members.
