Project for overseas Vietnamese students aims to fight discrimination

A project themed “My podcast – My story” is underway to spread positive energy and inspiration to society through the stories of overseas Vietnamese students who have suffered discrimination and bullying. The project, launched by the Viet Happiness Station, also encourages students of 13-32 years old to explore their potential and benefit the community.

Each student will make a podcast of a maximum of 15 minutes long and send it to the organizer and a board of advisors for review and evaluation. If broadcasted, the student will receive a small bonus, and his/her podcast will be qualified for the next rounds. The admission of the podcasts lasts until May 22, 2023. Son Ha Group, on April 8, debuted four new e-motorbike models to facilitate the development of green transportation in the country. With the new products, the company expects to assist in the quick transition from fossil-fueled to electrical-powered vehicles.

One of the four models, EX100, is the first four-geared motorbike that has ever been released in Vietnam. The bike is equipped with a 1,500W engine and a lithium-ion battery, which makes it easier to travel on the roads of Vietnam and endure a distance of a maximum of 70 kilometers for each charge. The motorbike is expected to suit the needs of Vietnamese riders in all regions.

Vietnamese Women’s football squad into second-round Olympic qualification

Striker Hai Yen scored a double in the second leg against Nepal on April 8 to take the Vietnamese women’s football team into the second-round qualification of the 2024 Summer Olympics. Despite controlling the whole match, Vietnam still allowed Nepal to have some clear-cut chances, however, the latter failed to find the net. On aggregate, Vietnam beat Nepal by 7-1.

Vietnam is in Group C with Nepal and Afghanistan and Palestine, but the two others have withdrawn from the competition for unspecified reasons. In the second-round qualification, 12 teams, including Vietnam, will be classified into three groups, and matches will begin in October 2023.

Vietnam Festival opens in Tokyo, Japan

The Vietnam Festival in Japan on April 8 opened in the capital city of Tokyo as the first activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations. Themed “Hope”, the event will be a chance for the Vietnamese and Japanese people to know more about each other, thus tightening the bilateral relationship.

The festival will feature outstanding cultural performances of both Vietnamese and Japanese artists and some 20 booths that offer tasty, famous Vietnamese traditional cuisine. The two-day event will also introduce famous tourist sites to the people of Japan. The festival will start a series of similar events in Yoyogi, Osaka, and Fukuoka.

The longest flower road to be realized in HCM City

More than 1,000 flower pots were placed along the railways, stations and guarding posts in HCM City to improve safety for people. The activity is also expected to form the longest flower road in Vietnam and attract more railroad travelers.

Coordinated by the Sai Gon Railway JSC and People’s Committee of Ward 13 in Binh Thanh District, the flower pots will create recognizable traits that drivers and travelers can notice. In addition, the Sai Gon Railway JSC and local authorities hope to bolster the awareness of officials and employees regarding environmental protection.
